DISASTERS/HUNGER ...

They never seem to end. Bad storms, gulf oil spills, tornados, floods, earth quakes …. they wreak devastation everywhere they hit. This week has shown us locally how hard it can be. People become helpless through no fault of their own. Our ELCA Lutheran Disaster Relief Fund works with many other agencies to be there for people needing assistance. Please consider those who in need. There are at least 3 ways to help: Red pew envelopes are available that allow you to designate where you would like your disaster donations to go. Blue pew envelopes for world hunger. Bring non-perishable food and hygiene items to our table of sharing.

Outreach Team January - April Focus On Economic Justice
Our 3rd featured Outreach area is for Lutheran Day.
Lutheran Day -- Save the Date! Mark your calendar for Wednesday, April 21st, 2010. For the past 4 years members of Epiphany have journeyed to Springfield to meet with our local legislators to advocate for economic justice. Join a group of your fellow Epiphany members and several hundred Lutherans and friends in our state's capital to learn about key issues affecting our state, advocate for people in need, and spend time in fellowship. See Bill Thiel to volunteer or learn more at www.LutheranDay.org
Lutheran Advocacy— Lutheran Day is sponsored by Lutheran Advocacy, a justice ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the three ELCA synods in Illinois and Lutheran Social Services of Illinois.

Eighty percent of the jobs being filled today come from networking contacts. The way networking works is a friend or professional contact that you know, knows someone who has knowledge of a job opening. Usually this 2nd or 3rd level contact provides us with the job notice that results in ultimately getting hired.

MISSION CHALLENGE FUNDS ARE NOW AVAILABLE...

Posted by Web Editor on 3/20/2010 8:11:28 PM (74 reads)

Do you have ideas on new ways Epiphany can support and further our mission (Rooted in Christ, Growing in Faith, Reaching to Invite and Serve)? Your idea might impact our congregation, our community or have an impact on people far from Elmhurst. Perhaps your idea will enhance an existing Epiphany ministry. Either way, the Mission Challenge Fund was established in the 2010 annual budget as a means for people or groups within the church to solicit funds to help turn their mission related passions into reality. The process for applying for funds is simple and all Epiphany members can apply. Just fill out a Mission Challenge Fund “Request for Support” form which is available in the church office. The process is easy and the one page form includes all the necessary information. There is even a small group of Epiphany members led by Ron Feltman willing to help you refine your idea and fill out the application. Let’s make 2010 the year that your ideas and the Mission Challenge Fund unleash powerful missional growth.
